Music Premiere: Patriarchy Asking For It LP

Fresh is the Word brings you a first listen to a project that I’m quite intrigued by, the new album Asking For It by Patriarchy. This is a collaboration from the LA-based multifaceted artist Actually Huizenga along with Andrew Means from 3Teeth.

There’s a dark and yet spiritual feeling within Asking For It. The two take elements of metal, synthpunk, and industrial and toy with the ideals of life and death, the roles and spectrum of sexuality, and make it therapeutically sleazy. Just because something sounds or looks scary, doesn’t necessarily mean its bad for you. There’s power to explore within these songs.
