The guests for this episode are Billy Obey, Joey Black, and Lee Carver, the Horrorcore Hip-Hop trio from Ohio known as Alla Xul Elu making their return to Fresh is the Word to talk about all sorts of gross and horrific things, including their new album MauXuLeum, out now via Majik Ninja Entertainment. The new album is produced entirely by Detroit’s own Slasher Dave (producer of late 70s/early 80s influenced original instrumental horror/exploitation soundtrack music and member of metal band Acid Witch), so we talk about how it is to work with one producer for a whole album as we go track-by-track through MauXuLeum. We also talk about our favorite spooky tunes and horror flicks. It’s always crazy shenanigans when I have these Xuligans on the show.
For this episode, your host Kelly “K-Fresh” Frazier is joined by Detroit rap legend Esham as they take a deep dive into his classic 1996 album Dead Flowerz via his own imprint Reel Life Productions. This was the fifth studio album by Esham and it peaked at #38 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The album was produced by Esham himself along with Lord Maji (who was Mystro of the Detroit hip hop duo Kaos & Mystro). Guests on the album included Zelah Williams, Dice, Bugz, and Drunken Master. The Unholy Esham joins in to talk about what his life was like around the making of Dead Flowerz along with a track-by-track breakdown of the album and so much more.
The sixth annual Twiztmas hosted the serial killer duo Twiztid on December 6th at The Crofoot in Pontiac, Michigan was as fun as ever! With awesome performances from members of the Majik Ninja Entertainment roster including Twiztid, Blaze Ya Dead Homie, Alla Xul Elu, and The R.O.C., and along with many of their friends made for another great holiday celebration. Below are some photos from the event showing how much of a great community Twiztid and Majik Ninja Entertainment truly has.
